When car sharing a vehicle, please verify that the vehicle you are using is covered by Bonzah.com insurance policies and is not a restricted vehicle type. Insurance is crucial to protecting you and others while on your journey. We want to ensure that you have “That Covered Feeling” by using a Bonzah.com insurance compatible vehicle.

Included Vehicles

Car share vehicles that are generally protected by our policies:

• Bonzah.com coverage is generally limited to private passenger vehicles, that seat eight (8) people or fewer,
• Standard Car Share Classes, such as Economy, Compact, Intermediate/Mid-size, Standard, Full-size, Premium, and most Luxury,

Pickups and SUVS,

• Minivans and Full-Size Passenger Vans (that seat eight (8) people or fewer),
• Specialty vehicles, such as convertibles, hybrids, and most EVs.

Bonzah.com's coverage has specific limitations and exclusions of which that car share users should be aware. If a vehicle restriction (below) appears to conflict with the information under “Included Vehicles” (above), the more restrictive vehicle provision shall prevail.

Vehicle Restrictions
Bonzah.com does not provide coverage for:

• High-performance sports vehicles (including Corvettes, all Porsche models regardless of value),
• Ultra luxury vehicles,
• Supercars, exotic cars, and hypercars.
• Vintage, classic, street cars, or any car greater than 15 years old,
• Commercial vehicles,
• Any vehicle with an actual cash value or market value greater than $100,000.

Restricted Brands and Models
Restricted vehicle makes and models include, but are not limited to: Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Auburn, Avanti, Bentley, Bertone, BMC/Leyland, BMW, Bradley, Bricklin, Bugatti, Clenet, Corvette, Cosworth, Cybertruck, De Lorean, Excalibre, Ferrari, Iso, Jaguar, Jensen Healy, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Lancia, Lotus, Maserati, Maybach, McLaren, Mercedes G-Wagon, Mercedes S-Class, Mercedes AMG (please verify), MG, Morgan, Pagani, Pantera, Panther, Pininfarina, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Rover, Stutz, Sterling, Triumph, and TVR.


Other Excluded Vehicles
Other vehicles not covered include:

• Delivery trucks,
• Can-ams and slingshots,
• Motorcycles, scooters, quadbikes, and mopeds,
• Street legal golf carts,
• Commercial trucks and vehicles used for commercial purposes, such as moving trucks, commercial delivery vans, courier trucks, trailer trucks, dump trucks, garbage trucks, carriers, refrigerator trucks, and tractor-trailers,
• Vehicles used for transportation networks, such as rideshare services like Uber or Lyft, delivery services like UberEats or GrubHub,
• Vehicles requiring a special license, such as those exceeding standard passenger limits or cargo capacity,
• Heavy equipment and construction use.

When using car share a vehicle, it's important to understand the different classes available to ensure you choose the right one for your needs. Here are the common classes of car share vehicles:

Common Classes of Car Share Vehicles
Cars

• Economy: Small, fuel-efficient cars suitable for budget-conscious travelers. Typically seats 4 passengers with limited luggage space (e.g., Chevrolet Spark, Hyundai Accent). Covered.
• Compact: Slightly larger than economy cars, offering more comfort and luggage space. Seats up to 5 passengers (e.g., Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris). Covered.
• Intermediate/Mid-size: Offers more room than compact cars, suitable for up to 5 passengers with more luggage space (e.g., Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra). Covered.
• Standard: Larger sedans that provide more comfort and space for luggage, ideal for long drives (e.g., Hyundai Elantra, Ford Fusion). Covered.
• Full-size: The largest cars that are not SUVs, providing ample space for passengers and luggage (e.g., Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Impala). Covered.

• Full-size SUV: The largest SUVs with maximum space for passengers and luggage (e.g., Chevrolet Tahoe, Nissan Armada). Mostly Covered (may need to verify).

Trucks and Vans

• Pickup Trucks: Vary in size and offer significant cargo space and towing capabilities (e.g., Nissan Frontier, Ford F-150). Mostly Covered (may need to verify high-end vehicles).
• Minivans: Ideal for larger families or groups, offering seating for up to 8 passengers and ample luggage space (e.g., Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town and Country). Covered.

Collision Damage Warranty (CDW)
The CDW car share insurance offered by Bonzah covers up to $35,000 for car share vehicle damage due to a collision with another vehicle. Car share users will be reimbursed up to the maximum benefit, less a $1,000 deductible for an accident with another vehicle.

• Primary car share collision coverage.
• Coverage is available in all U.S. states. Coverage NOT available for car shares originating in Pennsylvania. Coverage NOT available in Canada.

Coverage Limit:

• $35,000 in collision damage per accident.
• $1,000 deductible.

Usage Eligibility:

• Eligible car share vehicles: Private passenger vehicles that seat 8 people or fewer (vehicle exclusions apply).
• Eligible for peer-to-peer networks (Turo).
• Eligible for car share companies.

Not Covered:

• Vehicles used for rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.), delivery, courier services (UberEats, GrubHub, Postmates, etc.), and other “transportation networks”.
• Vehicle theft.
• Single-car accidents involving only the car share vehicle.
• War, insurrection, confiscation or seizure, nuclear events, illegal acts, misrepresentation, intoxicated persons, intentional damage, wear and tear, or mechanical issues.
• Non-car share vehicle damages due to liability by the car share user.
• Medical expenses.

Requirements and rules:

• Minimum age: 21.
• Valid for drivers with a domestic or international driver’s license or international driver’s permit (available in English).
• Coverage is based on 24-hour increments. Insurance begins at the car share pickup time as specified in the car share agreement. If the car share agreement doesn’t specify a start time, insurance starts at the scheduled pickup time for the reservation as designated on the car share agreement. In the absence of a car share pickup time or start time, insurance begins at the purchase time.

For example, 3 days of coverage purchased for July 1 at 10 AM means coverage ends on July 4 at 10 AM. If the vehicle is returned after 10 AM on July 4, an additional day of coverage must be purchased.

• Does not cover 3^rd party liability when a car share user is at fault in an accident —this is covered by Renter’s Contingent Liability Coverage (RCLI) and Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI).
• All losses must be reported within 30 days of the date of loss.

Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI) – State Minimum Primary Liability
Bonzah offers the Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI) policy, which provides primary liability coverage that meets the state minimum requirements car share vehicles across the United States (coverage varies by state).

• Primary car share liability insurance that covers state minimum requirements.
• Coverage is available in all U.S. states and car share extending into Canada, but not available for car share originating in Pennsylvania or Canada.

• Aggregate Coverage: $60,000
• Bodily Injury – Per Person: $30,000

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
The SLI policy offered by Bonzah must be purchased with RCLI and provides additional coverage beyond the state minimum for liability and property damage:

• Secondary car share vehicle liability insurance that provides excess coverage.
• Coverage is available in all U.S. states and car shares extending into Canada, but not available for car shares originating in Pennsylvania or Canada.

Coverage Limit:

• $500,000 in Supplemental Liability Insurance per accident in aggregate (not in addition to state minimum).
• $100,000 per person per accident.
• $10,000 in additional property damage (this is in addition to the state minimum property damage limit).
• No deductible.

Excess Coverage:

• SLI is in excess of any other applicable insurance, including personal auto insurance or corporate auto insurance designed to provide coverage for individual drivers.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
The PAI insurance offered by Bonzah covers up to $50,000 for the car share user's loss of life, $5,000 for passenger loss of life, and $1,000 for accidental medical expenses. The policy also provides coverage of up to $500 for personal effects (see policy for limitations). A $25 deductible will be applied for personal effects coverage.

Collision Damage Warranty (CDW), Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI), and Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) policies are valid on a per 24-hour basis.

Coverage is based on 24-hour increments. Insurance begins at the car share pickup time as specified in the car share agreement. If the car share agreement doesn’t specify a start time, insurance starts at the scheduled pickup time for the reservation as designated on the car share agreement. In the absence of a car share pickup time or start time, insurance begins at the purchase time.

For example, 3 days of coverage purchased for July 1 at 10:00 AM means coverage ends on July 4 at 10:00 AM. If the vehicle is returned after 10:00 AM on July 4, an additional day of coverage must be purchased.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) policy is valid on a per calendar day basis.
Coverage is based on calendar day increments listed on the car share contract. If the car share contract says the pick-up time is 1:00 PM, then the coverage starts at that time and is valid until 12:00 AM the day of pickup and is valid from 12:01 AM to 12:00 AM each additional day of coverage. LDW coverage ends at the earliest of the time the Automobile is returned to the Car Share Agency or midnight on the last day of the Car Share Period.

Other Policy Information:

• Coverage duration is limited to trips up to a maximum of 30 days for CDW, RCLI, SLI, and PAI policies. For LDW policies, coverage duration is limited to trips up to a maximum of 31 days.
• Insurance coverage must be purchased before the car share period begins.
• Coverage must be purchased prior to the reservation pickup date and time.
• If the vehicle is picked up or driven before the insurance date and time, the coverage will be null and void. Please contact Bonzah for an immediate refund.

Collision Damage Warranty (CDW) covers up to $35,000 in damages to the car share vehicle. However, if the vehicle is valued over $35,000, the car share user or fleet owner may face a loss for the difference if the car is totaled. Additional insurance options, such as credit card policies or the other party’s insurance, may help recover the loss in some cases.

For vehicles valued at $100,000 or more, Bonzah’s CDW, LDW, RCLI, SLI, and PAI policies do not provide coverage.

Bonzah’s Renter’s Contingent Liability (RCLI), Supplemental Liability (SLI), and Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) policies all cover damages to third parties resulting from a single-car accident when the car share user is at fault in an accident.

Bonzah’s Collision Damage Warranty (CDW) does not cover single-car accidents, as it only provides collision coverage. However, Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) offers both collision and limited comprehensive coverage, including single-car accidents.

Bonzah’s Collision Damage Warranty (CDW) does not cover theft, as it only provides collision coverage. However, Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) offers both collision and limited comprehensive coverage, including theft of the car share vehicle.

RCLI, SLI, and PAI do not cover the car share vehicle itself.

CDW:
Residents of any country can purchase a Collision Damage Warranty (CDW), provided the trip takes place in the U.S. Coverage excludes car shares originating in Pennsylvania or Canada.

LDW:
Non-U.S. residents are not eligible to use the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW).

RCLI:
Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI) can be purchased by residents of any country, provided the trip originates in the U.S. and may extend to Canada. Coverage excludes car shares originating in Pennsylvania or Canada.

SLI:
Residents of any country can purchase Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), provided the trip originates in the U.S. and may extend to Canada. Coverage excludes car shares originating in Pennsylvania or Canada.

For CDW, RCLI, SLI, or PAI, any foreign driver’s license or international driver’s permit must be immediately available in English to be valid for coverage.

LDW is not eligible for use by any non-U.S. resident.

All eligible drivers are covered at no extra cost.

For CDW, RCLI, SLI, and PAI, an eligible driver must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license or international driver’s permit (available in English), and be listed on the original car share agreement. For international drivers, a valid driving license and/or international driving permit must be available in English.

For LDW, an eligible driver must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license from an eligible U.S state (LDW not offered for residents of all states).

The minimum age for Bonzah insurance is 21 years old.

Collision Damage Warranty (CDW)
The CDW policy costs $26.95 per 24 hours.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
The LDW policy costs from $9.60 to $42.80 per calendar day.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
The Supplemental Liability Insurance coverage costs $11.20 per 24 hours.

Renter’s Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI)
Primary liability coverage costs between $20.18 and $23.18 per 24 hours, depending on the state of car share use.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
Personal accident coverage costs $6.90 per 24 hours.

To make a CDW, RCLI, SLI, or PAI claim, you will need to submit all relevant information using the form available here.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) claims have unique requirements, so please refer to the specific instructions for LDW claims. The car share user must file the claim.

Required information is listed below:
1. Signed car share agreement (copy) including car share start and end times. REQUIRED
2. Copy of the police report if another car is involved in an accident (details of other driver required on the police report). REQUIRED
3. Damage estimates for injuries to persons or damage to property. REQUIRED
4. Copy of a current auto insurance policy and/or copy of the credit card agreement used for car share. (If applicable)
5. Take photos of the scene at the time of claim/accident/incident and have a description of the circumstances. REQUIRED.
6. Bonzah will pass on relevant information to our 3rd party adjuster.
7. The adjuster will approve or deny the claim and the amount.

The Bonzah claims process typically takes 3 to 5 weeks, depending on the severity and complexity of the claim. Providing complete and accurate information can help speed up the process.

Bonzah uses a third-party adjuster for claims because it provides the most transparency and fairness. The disadvantage is that Bonzah doesn’t control the process or outcomes of the claims process.

The process is more efficient if the car share user keeps records of the accident and assists in the claims process. These records should be available if anyone involved in the claims process needs them.

For the LDW policy offered by Bonzah, the claim must be initiated and completed by the car share user.

Bonzah accepts major credit and debit cards through the Stripe payment system, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and more. We also accept digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, where available.

Bonzah partners may use other means for processing payments.

The Collision Damage Warranty (CDW), Renter's Contingent Liability Insurance (RCLI), and Supplemental Liability Insurance will cover Turo, peer-to-peer, and car share.

The Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is eligible for use with commercial car share companies but is not eligible for use with peer-to-peer or personal vehicle sharing programs such as Turo.

Bonzah insurance is not rideshare or delivery platform coverage while the vehicle is in use on the respective platform.

Loss of Use is not covered under Bonzah’s CDW, RCLI, or SLI policies, though we work hard to settle claims promptly.

However, Loss of Use may be covered under our LDW (Loss Damage Waiver), depending on the policy variant that was purchased.
